Hi! This is exactly what I am exploring as a support tool for users of our e-portfolio. I should love to find out more and share findings. I wish I was with you :-) 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Hi,
Thanks for the comment! what is it that you are looking for? Personally I'ver just started trying out thses new tools, and I think the combination wiki and forum looks promising.

Hi, Kjell
Yes, developing a peer reviewed wiki and a forum is something that is going to be really useful for the practitioners using our e-portfolio 'passportfolio' ( www.passportfolio.com) with students. Because they are a varied bunch, including teachers, guidance advisers and youth workers, a site to share information, explanations and good practice will be vital. I am working on how this will work in practice, and looking at sites to develop this, including Moodle, EduSpaces, Joomla and this site.

Hi Gill,
Have you had a look at www.wikispaces.com? That's the one I used for the experiment I carried out with the staff (or a small part of it, anyway) at a upper secondary school in NOrway. It's quite a simple concept and easy to use. If you leave it open it's also free.

Thank you Kjell, I will look at this as well. I need to test out the various options on a few teachers to see what they would prefer to use. What sort of response did you get? I find that because we have such a variety of skills in our secondary schools, from the enthusiastic IT literate, to the totally IT-shy,finding an easy to use site is going to be crucial! Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. My purpose was slightly different from yours. I used wikispaces to communicate with staff and students at an upper secondary school to prepare for a day of inservice training regarding the challenges of implementing ICT in their teaching programme. The response on the shared page was moderate from the leadership team and some teachers, 20 edits altogether. In the discussion forum there was quite good response, with app 50 postings and 370 views. All in all a worth while activity, forcing the school to formulate thier achievements and challenges, giving me and the school leaders a platform for the day of inservice training, and the school a point of departure for their further development in the field. I am doing something similar with a different school next fall. Kjell

Hi Kjell, thank you for this feedback. I feel strongly that a Wiki is the only way to effectively support teaching staff using our personal development e-portfolio with students in 2 local authorities, across 120 secondary schools and colleges. I am proposing to set up a small-scale focus group with some of the teachers in schools that are piloting the e-portfolio, I have a few options to try with them and their feedback will determine which one we go for. Hopefully I can start creating a community which will gradually grow. I will integrate it into my teacher in-service training and see what happens. Thanks for your help, Gill Do you find this valuable?

Hi Torhild, If you are registered on http://www.eduspaces.net/ and then add me as a friend, I can invite you to the Passportfolio group, However, I have also set one up on Wetpaint as a trial, as I find this site so much more 'user friendly' I will invite you to this one as well!
Best regards
Gill
